Question 1: What is the difference between PORCELAIN TILES and CERAMIC TILES?
PORCELAIN TILES are solid, impermeable, fine grained and smooth, with a sharply defined surface. They have a much lower water absorption rate (0.5%) than ceramic tiles, making them frost or freeze resistant. PORCELAIN TILES are almost always finished with a colorfast glaze, which retains its color and pattern. They are used for both wall and floor applications, and are softer and easier to cut than porcelain tiles. Porcelain tiles have a higher water absorption rate (3%-6%).

Question 2: How to check the WATER ABSORPTION RATE of bricks?
A simple method is to pour colored water (such as ink/water) on the back of the tile. If the ink is diffuse, its water absorption is low, otherwise the ink will seep into the tile. Another method is to tap the back of the tile body, the more pigment you pour, the higher the water absorption.
