Loctite 648 Glue – Product introduction, usage and storage

Loctite 648 is designed for the bonding of pipe fittings, particularly where disassembly of dynamic connections is required. The product bonds in anaerobic environments between adjacent metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Typical applications include holding bearings onto shafts and into housings.

Octite 648 is not recommended for use in pure and/or oxygen enriched systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing agents. For safe handling information on this product, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

In aqueous cleaning systems used to clean surfaces prior to bonding, it is important to check the compatibility of the cleaning solution with the adhesive. In some cases, these aqueous cleaning agents may affect the adhesion and performance of the adhesive. Loctite 641 adhesive products are generally not recommended for use on plastics (especially relatively flexible materials where cracking may occur). The user is advised to confirm the compatibility of the product with such adhesive substrates.

When should Loctite 648 glue be used ?

You can use loctite 648 glue to prevent thread stripping or to seal gaps.

With the main function of anti-rotation as above, loctite 648 glue is often used mainly for prevention. This will create more safety for machinery and equipment than when you let the machine break down before reinforcing it.

Loctite 648 glue has a heat resistance of up to 300ºF(150C)º. Suitable for use in the internal engine of the machine.

Loctite 648 glue can also fix joints on steel in 4 minutes. With normal machines, the glue will dry in about 10 minutes and completely dry in 24 hours.

Instructions for using Loctite 648 glue

For best results, clean surfaces (inside and outside) with cleaning solvent and allow to dry. To speed up the bonding process or have large gaps, use primer and allow to dry.

For assembly, apply adhesive around the leading edge of the pin and inside the pin neck and use a rotating motion during installation to ensure best fit.

For press-fit assembly, thoroughly glue the reverse side and assemble at high compression to level.

For compact assembly products, the adhesive must be applied to the part to create a smooth film of material. If the center is heated for assembly, attach the battery. If the battery is cooled for assembly, apply the main host. If both heating and cooling are performed, apply the material to cool the part. Avoid condensation on the cooling parts.

Notes on product use and storage

Loctite 648 glue can dry within 10 minutes and can shrink the glue surface within 4 minutes. Therefore, when not using the product, you need to close the lid tightly. Make sure that oxygen does not directly contact the product for a long time. Because this can reduce the main quality of the product.

When using loctite 648 glue to lock welds, screws, and threaded parts. You should use a moderate amount. Avoid using too much, which is both wasteful and increases the bonding time of the product.

Store product in a cool, dry place.
