Applications of Sika Monotop 610

It is a treatment to prevent corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete and is a connecting layer with the repaired concrete when using the Sika Monotop concrete repair system. This system includes:

Application of Sika Monotop 610

Surface preparation:

Concrete and mortar floors must be solid, clean, free from grease and other contaminants.

Remove peeling materials and dirt from the surface.

Care must be taken to ensure that the surface is free of any coatings, such as curing membranes, as these will prevent Sika Monotop 610 from penetrating into the surface.

Reinforcing steel must be cleaned with a suitable wire brush or water/sand blasting to remove grease, impurities and surface contaminants.

Mixing: Sika Monotop 610 must be machine mixed in a clean container using a low speed electric mixer (maximum 500 rpm). For small repairs hand mixing may be used.

Application: As a bonding agent:

Apply by brush, roller or suitable spray equipment to the prepared (pre-wetted) surface and work into a smooth surface, filling in any uneven surfaces.

Subsequent layers of repair mortar must be applied over the bonding layer while it is still wet.

As a protective layer for steel reinforcement: Use a hard brush, roller or spray equipment to apply the first layer about 1mm thick onto the cleaned steel reinforcement surface, apply the next layer after 4 hours with the same thickness.
