Loctite 565 Adhesive – Product introduction and uses

Loctite 565 is a sealant designed to lock and seal tapered metal threads and fittings. The product cures in a confined space without air between tightly fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. LOCTITE 565 provides strong curing performance. It works not only on active metals (e.g. brass, copper) but also on passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The high lubricating properties of this compound prevent galling on stainless steel, aluminum and all other metal pipe threads and fittings.

The product offers high temperature performance and oil resistance. It withstands minor surface contamination from various oils, such as cutting, lubricating, anti-corrosion and protective fluids.

Applications of Loctite 565 glue

Loctite 565 Thread Sealant with PTFE: Temperature resistant to 400ºF with excellent solvent resistance. Locks and seals tapered threaded, tapered plain joints including high pressure applications. Removes with hand tools. ABS approved.
Ideal for stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized metal and other inert metals.

This product is often used in the assembly and maintenance processes of professional units. In addition, it is also indicated for use in the process of energy production or energy storage, marine, automobiles, industrial equipment, etc. In addition, when using this product, you should note not to use it on plastic because the heat caused can cause cracking and damage the surface.

Instructions for use of Loctite 565 Adhesive

*** For assembly

1. For best results when using Loctite 565 Adhesive, we should clean all surfaces (outside and inside) with Loctite cleaning solvent and let them dry completely before use.

2. If the material is an inactive metal or the cure rate is too slow, use LOCTITE® SF 7471™ or LOCTITE® SF 7649™ catalyst and allow to dry.

3. Rotate the threaded part and apply an appropriate amount of glue so that the glue fills the threaded part that needs to be sealed and proceed to assemble the parts together.

4. Use hand tools to assemble the parts until proper alignment is achieved.

5. Properly tightened fittings will seal immediately to withstand low pressure ranges. For maximum pressure resistance and solvent resistance allow product to cure for a minimum of 24 hours.

*** To remove
1. Disassemble with standard hand tools.
2. Where hand tools do not work due to large length or large diameter (over 1”) apply local heat to approximately 250°C. Disassemble while hot.

*** To clean
1. Cured product can be removed with a combination of immersion in Loctite solvent and mechanical abrasion such as a brush.

How to preserve Loctite 565 glue

To best preserve the product, you should limit the liquid's exposure to air, and close the lid tightly immediately after use. At the same time, you should keep the Loctite 565 glue bottle in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and especially out of reach of children.

Store the product at a temperature of 2 – 8 0C. If this temperature range is exceeded, it will affect the quality of the product.

Notes when using Loctite 565 Glue

Loctite 565 is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen enriched systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials. For additional safety information on this product, consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Where aqueous wash systems are used to clean surfaces prior to bonding, it is important to check the compatibility of the wash solution with the adhesive. In some cases these aqueous solutions may affect the effectiveness and performance of the adhesive.
This product is generally not recommended for use on plastics (especially thermoplastics where plastic stress cracking may result). The customer should confirm product compatibility with such substrates.
