Silver mirrors are the "state of the art" in the mirror field, the most prominent feature is that they are copper and lead free, and copper free household mirrors are produced by the wet deposition method on a conveyor belt. The annealed glass is thoroughly cleaned using a detergent and exposed directly to oscillating scrubbers. After the glass is cleaned and rinsed, the glass surface is sensitized with a dilute tin chloride solution. This surface treatment allows for the deposition of silver. Silver nitrate is sprayed onto the sensitized glass surface along with other chemical configurations. The end result is the formation of a uniform silver layer on the glass. After the silver layer has formed on the glass, methods are applied to protect the silver layer from oxidation. A new protective layer is then directly coated on the silver. The super-sensitizer can be applied in two ways: chemically or electroplated. Recent technological advances have led to the development of copper-free protective films that also prevent silver oxidation, after the metal layers are attached to the glass; they are coated with a protective mirror primer. The mirror primer protects the metal layer from corrosion and mechanical scratches, and this coating is German-made Valspar, which is better than Fenzi coating on silver mirrors.
