CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
SURFACE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT
Concrete surfaces must be clean, sound, and free from oil, grease, and other contaminants. Metal surfaces (iron and steel) must be free from scale, rust, and grease. Absorbent surfaces must be thoroughly saturated, but free of standing water.
MIX
A pre-measured waterproofing material . The powder is slowly added to pre-measured water to achieve the desired consistency. Mix with an electric mixer with a mixing paddle at low speed (maximum 500 rpm) for at least 3 minutes until a smooth, thick consistency is achieved.
Forced drum mixer type 2-shaft mixers can be used.
CONSTRUCTION
Pour the grout after mixing. Make sure that any trapped air in the grout is released. When pouring the grout into the base, maintain a pressure head to keep the flow of grout uninterrupted. Make sure the formwork is firmly erected and watertight. For optimum expansion, apply the grout as quickly as possible (ideally within 15 minutes of mixing).
Pouring liquid mortar on machine bases
Water thoroughly but do not allow water to pool in the bolt holes. If possible, grout the anchor holes first, then grout the base. Keep the grout flowing continuously.
Pour liquid mortar into the bottom surface
Water about 24 hours in advance, do not let water accumulate. Keep hydraulic pressure constant to keep grout flowing continuously. Use cable or chain to ensure voids are filled. Make sure air bubbles escape easily.
Pour the grout into large cavities/large volumes. Depending on the volume to be filled and the thickness of the gap, coarse aggregates can be added to the Mizone ® Grout NS grout at a rate of 50-100% by weight of Mizone ® Grout NS powder. Round aggregates are more suitable than flat aggregates.
When grouting areas greater than 60mm thick, the use of coarse aggregate and/or cold water will reduce the temperature generated during the initial hardening period.Special Anchoring Cases (rock bolt anchors in tunnels). Please consult Mizen for more information on anchor bolt and grout products.
CURING / CUREMENT
Keep the free exposed mortar surface area as small as possible and protect the mortar from premature water loss by conventional curing measures (keeping moist, covering with wet burlap or using curing compounds).
CLEANING TOOLS
Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened mortar can only be removed by mechanical means.
IMPORTANT ATTENTION
Minimum application temperature is 10 °C. If the application temperature is lower than 20 °C, setting time and strength achieved will be slower.
The normal curing period of at least 3 days must be observed for exposed grout surfaces. In case of grouting into large cavities/large volumes, Mizone ® Grout NS is most suitable.
