CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Surface preparation:
The surface must be thoroughly saturated with water but without standing water. This means that the surface must be thoroughly saturated and free of any cement slurry or dust created during surface preparation. The steel reinforcement must be cleaned of all rust and primed with 2 coats of Mizone ® Monotop 610.
Primer:
Apply 2 coats of Mizone Monotop 610 with a brush onto the prepared surface (see Mizone ® Monotop 610 instructions for use).
Mix:
Mizone ® Monotop R must be mixed in a clean container using an electric mixer at low speed (maximum 500 rpm). Add the required amount of water (3.4 – 3.5 litres of water for 25 kg of Mizone ® Monotop R) to a clean container and then slowly add Mizone ® Monotop R while continuing to mix. Mix thoroughly for at least 3 minutes.
Construction:
Apply the bonding layer to the dry, saturated surface with a brush. Then, while the bonding layer is still wet, apply the well-mixed mortar to the surface, using a plastering method to fill in the holes. Compact thoroughly. Compact the material at the edges of the repair and gradually work towards the center. If the repair depth exceeds 20 mm, apply in several layers and make sure the previous mortar layer is hard and rough for good adhesion.
Maintenance:
To achieve the full properties of cementitious materials, curing is of utmost importance. In warm, windy weather, normal curing measures (using polythene sheets or damp burlap) should be taken to prevent the mortar from drying out too early.
Toilet:
Clean uncured Mizone ® Monotop R products from equipment and tools with water. Once cured, the product can only be removed by mechanical means.
Construction notes/limitations:
Mizone Monotop R mortar wetted during the initial curing stage may produce white patches on the surface but this does not affect the long term properties of the mortar.
IMPORTANT ATTENTION
Minimum working temperature is 10 o C. If the working temperature is lower than 20 o C, the setting time and strength achieved will be slower.
A normal curing period of at least 3 days must be observed where mortar is exposed.
